Linda Wilkinson grew up in a small house on Columbia Road, sharing a few rooms with siblings, parents, aunts and grandparents. Linda was surrounded by survivors - of war and persecution - and raised by adults damaged by illness and poverty. Yet she always felt the strength of tolerance and solidarity in their East End community. Set apart by grammar school attendance and a desire for a life less limited she began a journey into a career of science and life away from Columbia Road.
