Inherent Vice No.3 - Exploring Queerness in Natural History is a collaborative issue with the Linnean Society of London. This issue brings together material inspired by presentations from the society’s symposium earlier this year, alongside content developed through our own research. From queering Darwin’s theories, to research on same-sex pairing in seagulls, this issue is packed with information that will encourage you to think queerly about natural history, heritage and beyond. The issue includes an opening piece by guest author Bi-Curious George, an award-winning drag king whose work centres around queer ecology. His piece ‘Freedom in Nature’s Fluidity’ is a playful and personal reflection on nature’s innate queerness.

About Inherent Vice: Created with heritage professionals such as conservators, archivists, and collection carers in mind, Inherent Vice is also for anyone with an interest in queer culture. It aims to inspire new ideas, spark conversations, encourage allyship, inform practice, and help foster a queer space within heritage professions. The zine's aim is to develop our collective understanding of queer heritage, empower advocacy within conservation and heritage settings for marginalised communities, inspire a reimagination of our professional roles, encourage the exploration of new collaborations, and to hold space for queerness in the heritage sector.
